Q. Are Flights Included in the Price?

Most tour and cruise packages are sold as “Land Only”. This allows you the freedom to purchase tickets on your preferred airline and from your home city. We may offer group flights depending on the tour.

Q. Can Frequent Flyer Miles be Used to Join a Tour?

Yes! Once the frequent flyer reservations have been confirmed and ticketed by the airline, please provide a copy of the itinerary to us to ensure that proper transfer arrangements are made. We regret that we cannot assist with making frequent flyer reservations.

Q. Is a Cash Discount Available?

Yes! If you want to save some money, this is the ideal option. All reservations paid for by check or cash will receive a discount. The amount varies by tour and will be listed on the web-site.

Q. Are Other Discounts Available?

Yes! If you are a Deseret Book Platinum Club member an additional discount may be available. There may be Expo discounts or other promotional discounts offered from time to time. However, only one discount per person will apply with the exception of the cash discount. Please call for details.

Q. Should I Purchase Travel Insurance?

Because unforeseen circumstances may arise, we strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. This insurance will cover you in case you need to cancel a tour after final payment has been made. Certain restrictions apply.

Q. Is Tipping Included in the Price?

Some tours do include gratuities for the local guides and bus drivers and others do not. Please refer to the “What is Included” section for your specific trip to find out.

Q. What if I Have a Medical Condition or Physical Disability?

Please note that many of these tours require that participants be in good physical and mental health. You must be capable, without assistance, of walking a minimum of one mile over uneven terrain and of climbing stairs that may not have handrails. Participants should have sufficient stamina to keep pace with an active group of travelers on long days of touring. Q. Can I Bring My Children on the Tour?

In order for the enjoyment of all tour participants, we generally request that children be a minimum of 8 years old to participate on the tour. Parents should be advised that they may be the only youth on the tour. Some tours may be designed with family travel in mind and will be advertised as such. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Q. What Documentation Will be Needed?

All U.S. citizens are required to have a current passport valid for six months beyond the return date if the trip is international. In some cases a visa may also be required. For tours wholly within the United States a valid Drivers License is acceptable documentation. Please remember that your first and last name on your ticket must match your passport or drivers license. If you are not a U.S. citizen, please call our office for assistance.

Q. When is Final Payment Due?

The final payment for an international tour is due 90 days prior to departure and for domestic tours it is due 60 days prior to departure. Full payment is required for new reservations received within the final payment period.

Q. What Happens if I Need to Cancel My Tour?

Per person cancellation fees are based on the date we receive notice from you. For tours in the United States: Cancellations within 7 days of booking (if not within final payment date): full deposit refunded. Cancellations after the grace period ends to 91 days prior to departure: $125 will be refunded (50% of tour deposit) Cancellations from 90 to 61 days prior to departure: no refund of deposit Full payment due: 60 days prior to departure. Cancellations made 59 days or less prior to departure: no refund. Cancellations made on the day of departure: no refund Cancellation by Morris Murdock Escorted Tours: full refund. No refund for unused portions of the tour, including but not limited to, missed meals, hotel nights, and sightseeing. For all other tours including international tours and cruises: Cancellations within 7 days of booking (if not within final payment date): full deposit refunded. Cancellations after the grace period ends to 91 days prior to departure: $250 refund (50% of tour deposit) Full payment due: 90 days prior to departure. Cancellations made 89 days or less prior to departure: no refund Cancellations made on the day of departure: no refund Cancellation by Morris Murdock Escorted Tours: full refund. Q. What Should I Pack?

Since each tour is different, please refer to the individual tour recommendations on the web-site. Generally speaking, you will want to pack comfortable walking shoes, slacks and shirts that can be easily layered should there be a change in temperature. Be sure pack an extra change of clothing, camera and prescription medicines in your carry on bag.

Q. How Much Luggage Can I Take?

Carry-on: Most airlines permit each passenger to take one carry-on bag, total dimensions (22"+ 14"+ 9") of which must not exceed 45 inches and which cannot weigh more than 22 lbs., and one additional personal carry-on item, such as a purse or briefcase/laptop case; all carry-on items must fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. Checked: Please check with your airline to confirm the current luggage limitations and any applicable fees. Most carriers charge a fee for any checked bags, with a discount if this is done ahead of time online. Overweight: Please note that many airlines charge significant fees for overweight or oversized luggage. Be sure that all baggage and personal belongings are properly insured. Items such as medications, jewelry, or other valuables, breakable or perishable items, and important documents should be hand-carried. Responsibility will not be assumed by the airline for loss of or damage to these items.

We depart from our home cities this morning and travel to Palmyra, NY. Upon arrival, we’ll gather for dinner and to get acquainted as we look forward to the trip ahead.

Tuesday, September 21, 2027: Palmyra - Fayette

This morning, we visit the Sacred Grove and reflect on the remarkable events that took place there. We then tour the restored Joseph Smith Sr. family farm and home, including the log cabin where Moroni first appeared to the young Joseph Smith. Next, we visit the E. B. Grandin Building, where the Book of Mormon was first printed, followed by a stop at the gravesite of Alvin Smith, Joseph’s eldest brother. After lunch, we explore the Hill Cumorah and its Visitor Center before traveling to Fayette, NY, to visit the Peter Whitmer Farm, where The Church was organized on April 6, 1830.

Day 3 :

Wednesday, September 22, 2027: Susquehanna, PA/Palmyra

Today, we travel to Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, to visit the Priesthood Restoration Site. During our visit, we will explore the Visitor Center and meetinghouse, tour the reconstructed homes of Joseph and Emma Smith and Isaac and Elizabeth Hale, and visit the wooded area where John the Baptist restored the Aaronic Priesthood and view the inspiring statuary that commemorates these sacred events. We will also see the baptismal site along the Susquehanna River. Following our visit, we return to our hotel for the evening.

Day 4 :

Thursday, September 23, 2027: Niagara Falls - Kirtland

This morning, we head to Niagara Falls, America’s oldest state park. We’ll board the Maid of the Mist boat, which takes us close to the American Falls before entering the Horseshoe Basin at the base of the Canadian side—a truly unforgettable experience! Afterward, we continue our journey to Kirtland, Ohio, where our next set of historic sites awaits.

Friday, September 24, 2027: Kirtland

Today, we visit the Kirtland Temple, where The Lord Himself appeared, along with Moses, Elias, Elijah, and numerous other angels. Next, we tour the newly restored Joseph Smith Home. After lunch at the Temple Quarry, we spend the afternoon exploring the Morley Farm and historic Kirtland Village, including the Church’s Visitor Center, the Whitney Home and Store, Ashery, and Sawmill.

Day 6 :

Saturday, September 25, 2027: Hiram - Cleveland Airport - Home

This morning we travel to Hiram, Ohio, to visit the John Johnson Farm. It was here that Joseph Smith completed the translation of the Bible, received the vision of the three degrees of glory, and experienced opposition from a local mob.

Following our visit, we transfer to Cleveland Airport for our late afternoon flight home, concluding our journey with a deeper appreciation for the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith, the early Saints, and the Restoration of the Church.

About Dr. Craig Ostler

Dr. Craig James Ostler and his wife, Sandy, have a special love for sharing sacred and meaningful sites with fellow travelers. They help others to feel the power of being on site as they read, study, and ponder the scriptures on their tours. Participants return home with increased appreciation and understanding of the lives of the Savior, prophets, apostles, and every-day people, ancient and modern. Dr. Ostler has been a religious educator for more than 40 years, teaching with the Seminaries and Institutes for 15 years and as a Professor at Brigham Young University for 28 years. He has authored over 30 books and articles, produced more than 50 videos, as well as taught Adult Religion classes and at BYU Education Week. He was co-director of the BYU Church History Travel Study program before retiring from BYU in 2020. He has served on a General Church Writing Committee, as a Bishop, and on three High Councils.

Sandy received a degree in Early Childhood Education from BYU and, while her children were young, taught preschool in her home for several years. She loves gardening, knows nearly every flower and decorative plant on sight, and shares that love with others. She belongs to a private national group known as Growing Kindness that personally delivers happiness to others by sharing flowers, especially, varieties of dahlias. Her warm and uplifting welcome each morning will make your tour experiences begin with sunshine in your soul!

Dr. Ostler, Sandy, and family lived in Jerusalem in 1998 and again in 2008, where he led field trips and taught classes while on university assignment at the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies. The family made many friends and due to Sandy’s cheerful and welcoming nature. Dr. Ostler was affectionately known to the Jewish and Palestinian communities as Sandy’s husband. As soon as COVID restrictions lifted, Elder and Sister Ostler served in the McAllen, Texas Mission (assigned to Laredo, Texas) 2021-2022. Dr. Ostler’s earlier service as a young man in the Bogotá, Colombia Mission, and undergraduate degree in Spanish Teaching were put to good use in sharing their love for the people of Laredo. The Ostlers have 7 children, 23 grandchildren, and countless deeply loved friends.

Iberian Eclipse Tour Review The Iberian Eclipse Tour was an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end. We added two days in London before the tour, which was a fantastic way to start the adventure, and then continued on to Spain, where the incredible cathedrals and historic sites were truly unforgettable. One of the highlights of the entire trip was the opportunity to experience the beauty, history, and culture of Spain. Somehow your all were able to pull if off "without a hitch." The tours were well planned and well timed. You may know that one driver was willing to take an interested group at the end of the day to Abbey Road at the end of the day. It could not have worked for the whole group but it was a blast.
