Upon arrival, explore the remarkable ruins of this once-thriving city, including its bustling marketplace, ancient streets, and imposing temple remains that reflect its historical importance.

Stand at the Bema, the platform where Paul was brought before local authorities, and reflect on the profound moments that shaped the early Christian church in this region. As you walk through the archaeological site, you are reminded of the encouraging words recorded in Scripture: “I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city.”

Overnight in Athens

Early this morning we visit the Acropolis, including the Parthenon and Mars Hill. Here we will reflect on Paul’s sermon regarding the “Unknown God” while taking in the remarkable ruins and panoramic views from this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Next, we transfer to the port to board the cruise ship Infinity, part of the Celebrity International fleet. After check-in and time to settle into your stateroom, you may explore the ship, relax on deck, and prepare for the unforgettable voyage ahead.

Thessaloniki, Veria & Vergina (Full-Day Tour including lunch: 7–8 Hours)

Today we begin our journey in Thessaloniki, the “Queen of the North,” a city deeply connected to the ministry of the Apostle Paul, who wrote two epistles to the Thessalonians here. Founded by King Cassander and named after the sister of Alexander the Great, the city flourished during the Byzantine era, and many of its most significant monument’s date back to this remarkable period. Our panoramic drive through Thessaloniki highlights the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the White Tower, the ancient Walls of the Byzantine Acropolis, the Roman Arch of Galerius, and the Rotunda—each offering a glimpse into the city’s layered and fascinating past.

We then travel through the stunning countryside of Northern Greece toward Veria, where the Apostle Paul is believed to have preached. Here, we visit the Bema of the Apostle Paul, a meaningful site commemorating his time in the region.

Continuing to Vergina, we explore the ancient first capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia, discovered in the 19th century and one of Greece’s most significant archaeological treasures. Highlights include the monumental royal palace—some parts dating back to the 11th century BC—and the royal tombs within the Great Tumulus, including that of King Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. His reign laid the foundation for the expansion of the Hellenistic world that followed. Vergina is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserving one of the most important chapters of ancient Macedonian history. At the conclusion of the tour, we return to your cruise ship.

Today we follow in the footsteps of history along the ancient Via Egnatia, retracing the route taken by the Apostle Paul and his companions as we travel through the region of Eastern Macedonia. Our journey begins with a stop in the area of Amphipolis, home to the impressive funerary Lion of Amphipolis, a striking monument of ancient Greek heritage. We continue to the archaeological site of Philippi, one of the most significant early Christian destinations in Europe. Here, we visit the Baptistery of Lydia by the river—where Lydia, the first European convert of Paul, was baptized—along with other key sites including the Roman Forum, early Christian basilicas, the traditional “Prison of Paul,” and the ancient theater.

After exploring Philippi, we travel onward to Kavala (ancient Neapolis), a scenic coastal port city overlooking the Aegean Sea. Highlights include the Byzantine Castle and the impressive Roman Aqueduct, both offering panoramic views and a glimpse into the city’s layered past.
