Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, we will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel, where early check-in has been arranged for your comfort. In the afternoon, enjoy a comprehensive city tour designed to introduce you to the heart and soul of the Argentine capital. The tour begins at Plaza de Mayo, a landmark square that has witnessed many of the country’s most important political events. From there, continue to San Telmo, a charming, historic district known for its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, antique shops, and artists’ ateliers. You will then head south to the colorful neighborhood of La Boca, where the famous Caminita Street awaits with its open-air museum filled with brightly painted houses and lively artistic dis-plays. The tour continues to Puerto Madero, once the city’s old port and now a sophisticated waterfront district home to elegant restaurants and modern design. Moving into the northern part of the city, you will explore Recoleta, admired for its Parisian-style avenues, luxurious palaces, upscale boutiques, and the historic Recoleta Cemetery. The afternoon concludes in Palermo, the city’s largest district, known for its expansive parks, vibrant dining scene, and beautiful French-style mansions. This morning, we will transfer to the airport for your flight to lguazu Falls, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided visit through the three main circuits of lguazu National Park. The Upper Circuit offers sweeping panoramic views of the waterfalls, while the Lower Circuit brings you closer to the lush vegetation, wildlife, and powerful cascades. The highlight of the day is the unforgettable visit to the Devil’s Throat, a massive U-shaped waterfall where the lguazu River plunges with breathtaking force, creating mist, thunder, and a scene unlike anything else in the world. Your visit will also include the Gran Aventura boat tour, an exhilarating experience that takes you right up to the base of the falls for an incredible and immersive encounter with nature’s power.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for our return flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival, we will be taken directly to the cruise terminal to begin embarkation for our South America cruise. Once on board, settle into your stateroom and enjoy the convenience of having the ship remain in Buenos Aires overnight. This gives you the freedom to head back into the city at your leisure to explore more of its vibrant neighborhoods, cafes, and culture.
In the evening, you are welcome to join our optional private shore excursion: a Dinner and Tango Show, exclusively arranged for our group. This morning, the Oosterdam arrives in San Antonio, the gateway port to Santiago, Chile’s lively and sophisticated capital. After breakfast, we’ll disembark and bid farewell to our home at sea. Our group will continue together on a full-day post-cruise tour of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso, a beautiful way to extend our journey and experience the spirit of Chile. Vina del Mar, known as the garden city, charms visitors with its coastal elegance and role as one of South America’s favorite summer resorts. Nearby Valparaiso, Chile’s most historic port and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, unfolds across colorful hillsides, where winding streets, cliffside homes, and traditional funiculars create an unforgettable landscape. A farewell lunch is included, and our day concludes with a convenient transfer to the Santiago airport for our evening flight back to the United States.

About Carlos Fida & Carol Alegre

Carlos Fida is a native of Argentina, where he taught at the Military Academy and the University of Patagonia. He is an expert in Latin American history. He has lectured to special interest groups while traveling and showing the wonders of South America to thousands of travelers. He is one of the foremost specialists in travel to Latin America. He was the recipient of several awards by Travel and Leisure Magazine and the South American Travel Association.

Carol Alegre brings 28 years of experience in the travel industry and has spent her career creating meaningful, well-crafted journeys for groups around the world. Originally from Bolivia, she has a deep appreciation for culture, history, and the joy of discovering new places. Carol looks forward to joining Carlos in leading this extraordinary South America adventure from Buenos Aires to Santiago.
