Dreaming of traveling to the Holy Land in 2027 or Beyond?

Why 2027 May - Or May Not Be Your Year

For many travelers, Israel isn’t simply another destination on the proverbial “bucket list” but a dream or desire that comes from deep inside.

Traveling to the Holy Land should and can be deeply personal, spiritual, and emotional. That’s exactly why deciding when to go should also be a very personal decision.

After several years of uncertainty in the region, one of the questions we hear most often is, “Is it time to book Israel again?” The answer will not be the same for everyone.

The Holy Land: A Place Like No Other

At Morris Murdock Escorted Tours, we always want our guests to feel comfortable and confident when making the decision to travel to Israel. We have already welcomed travelers back to the Holy Land this month, have additional groups traveling next month, and are moving forward with our December tours as well.

While we feel confident in our decision to resume touring, we also recognize that traveling to Israel is a very personal decision. We don’t want you spending your trip wondering whether you should have come. We want you fully present in the experience—looking across the Sea of Galilee, walking the streets of Jerusalem, and connecting with the scriptures, history, and sacred places that make the Holy Land unlike anywhere else in the world.

Pros, Cons & Questions

So, if Israel is calling to you, could 2027 be your year? Here are some of the pros, cons and important questions we believe every traveler should consider before deciding.

There isn’t one right answer about when to return to Israel. What feels comfortable to one traveler may not feel comfortable to another. Before you make a new reservation or rebook a trip you’ve postponed, consider both sides.

If You Feel Ready to Go, here are Some Positive Things to Consider:

  • Tourism is returning. Organized groups and educational programs are returning, and hotels, guides and tourism services are welcoming travelers again.
  • Air service is rebuilding. International airlines are restoring scheduled service and adding flights, making Israel increasingly accessible again.
  • Potentially fewer crowds. Tourism has not yet returned to previous levels, which may provide a more personal experience at some of Israel’s most important and sacred sites.
  • Your visit matters. Tourism supports local guides, drivers, hotels, restaurants and families who have experienced several extremely difficult years. Your visit means more than simply taking a vacation.
  • You’ve already waited. Maybe Israel has been postponed on your travel list, or perhaps you’ve already had a tour canceled. You see other travelers returning and having wonderful experiences, and you may simply be thinking, “I’m ready. It’s time to go.”
  • The experience is still extraordinary. Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee, the Mount of Olives, the Garden Tomb and the other places you’ve dreamed of experiencing are waiting.
  • Experience matters. Morris Murdock has been taking travelers to the Holy Land for decades. We have longstanding relationships with experienced ground operators in Israel who are deeply invested in both our travelers’ experience and their well-being. Particularly during uncertain times, who you travel with matters.

When You Should Consider Waiting:

  • Israel remains under an elevated U.S. travel advisory. Even if organized tourism is operating, you may simply not feel comfortable traveling while an elevated advisory remains in place, and that is an important consideration.
  • Conditions can change quickly. Regional developments could affect an itinerary or even a departure with little notice. While MMET has protections in place for tour funds when we must cancel a tour because of security concerns, the possibility of last-minute changes may itself make some travelers uncomfortable.
  • Airline schedules can change. Even as air service continues to rebuild, airlines can adjust schedules or suspend service in response to changing circumstances. Travelers need to be prepared for some additional flexibility.
  • Travel insurance requires careful consideration. Not every travel insurance policy covers every circumstance involving conflict, government advisories or a traveler’s personal decision to cancel. Before purchasing insurance, understand exactly what is—and is not—covered.
  • Worry can affect your experience. This may be the most important consideration of all. If you believe you will spend your trip continually watching the news or worrying about what might happen, this may not be the right time for you.

The Most Important Question to Ask Yourself

Don’t simply ask: “Is Israel ready for tourists?”

Ask yourself: “Am I ready for Israel?”

If you understand the current circumstances, are comfortable with the possibilities, have reviewed the financial and insurance considerations, and feel more excited than anxious when you think about going, then 2027 may be your year.

If you’re not there yet, that’s okay too.

Final Thoughts

The Holy Land deserves to be experienced when you can be fully present. Take in the history, the people, the scriptures, and the remarkable places you’ve traveled so far to see.

Our job isn’t to tell you when you should be ready. It’s to be ready for you when the time is right.

Experience the Morris Murdock Difference

And at Morris Murdock Escorted Tours, this is a journey we continue to refine after every departure. We listen to our travelers, learn from each experience, and work with our local partners to find new ways to add value, improve the flow and highlight experiences that make the tour even more meaningful. Each journey helps us make the next one even better.

It was amazing how much we were able to see and experience in such a short window of time without feeling like we were simply checking places off a list. There was time to laugh, learn, make new friends, watch an African sunset and simply appreciate where we were.
