The answer depends on what matters most to you.
When available and it makes sense, Morris Murdock Escorted Tours offers optional group airfare to make the journey as easy and coordinated as possible. There are some great advantages to traveling with the group—but contracted group airfare also comes with limitations you should understand before making your choice.
For many travelers, the greatest benefit is simply peace of mind.
You’ll travel on the designated flights with other members of your tour, which means you’ll have familiar faces to follow through airports, connections, customs and arrival procedures. It’s especially reassuring if you don’t travel internationally very often.
Another big advantage is airport transfers. When you travel on the designated MMET group flights, your tour’s group arrival and departure transfers are coordinated with those flights.
And, in most cases, group airfare allows us to secure your airline space well in advance without requiring full payment at the time the reservation is made. That’s very different from purchasing an individual airline ticket, where payment is typically required immediately.
Group airfare is designed around convenience and coordination rather than flexibility.
Contracted group tickets may have restrictions that don’t apply to individually purchased tickets. This can include limitations on upgrades, seat selection, frequent-flyer benefits and changing your travel dates.
Absolutely! Many of our experienced travelers prefer to arrange their own airfare.
Booking independently gives you much more control. You can choose your preferred airline, schedule, routing, cabin and seat. It’s also a great option if you’re using frequent-flyer miles or credit-card points, or if you want to arrive early or stay longer after the tour.
The biggest consideration is that you become responsible for your own flight arrangements.
If your flights are delayed, canceled or changed, you’ll work directly with the airline to resolve the situation.
You also need to pay particular attention to your arrival and departure times. MMET’s included group transfers are coordinated around the designated group flights. If your independently booked flights don’t coincide with those arrangements, you may need to arrange and pay for your own airport transportation.
You’ll also usually pay for your airfare in full when you book it.
Think about what matters most to you.
Choose MMET Group Air if your priority is: Convenience, traveling with your group, coordinated airport transfers and having MMET manage the group flight arrangements.
Consider booking your own air if your priority is: Flight choice, mileage or points, upgrades, preferred seating, extending your vacation or having greater control over your itinerary.
There’s no single answer that’s right for every traveler. Some people love knowing they’ll arrive at the airport and immediately find fellow MMET travelers. Others would rather use their airline miles, fly business class or spend an extra week exploring Europe.
