Come explore the history and art of early Christianity by following the footsteps of the apostle Paul across western Turkey, Athens, Corinth, and Rome with Jared Ludlow and Kirk Richards!

We will visit some of the best-preserved Greek ruins in western Turkey from when the region was under Greek influence. We will also learn about the Christian and Ottoman roles in Constantinople/Istanbul and experience Florence’s role in Renaissance art. Along the way, Jared Ludlow, scripture scholar, will review the scriptures and context associated with these sites. Kirk Richards, well-known latter-day Saint artist, will provide a range of engaging hands-on-art experiences, from sketchbook prompts to painting on-site, suitable for artists of any level of experience.

As we conclude our journey in Rome, 2025 promises to be an especially remarkable time to visit due to the Jubilee Year. This rare event, held only every 25 years, is an extraordinary opportunity for pilgrims and visitors to experience the city at its spiritual and cultural peak. The Jubilee Year, steeped in centuries-old traditions, symbolizes renewal and forgiveness, attracting millions of people to the Eternal City.  During the Jubilee you might witness special religious celebrations, sacred processions, and the opening of the Holy Doors at the major basilicas. During a Jubilee Year, the opening of the Holy Doors at the four major basilicas in Rome—St. Peter's Basilica, St. John Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major—marks the start of the celebration. For the 2025 Jubilee Year, this ceremony is expected to take place on December 24, 2024, which aligns with traditional practices of opening the Holy Doors on or around Christmas Eve to signify the official commencement of the Holy Year. The doors typically remain open throughout the entire Jubilee Year, allowing pilgrims to pass through them as a symbol of seeking grace and renewal.. This once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere will enrich the historical and spiritual significance of our visit.

Join us on this remarkable adventure and be part of an experience that will inspire and uplift you in ways you'll cherish forever.
