We invite you to join Tour Director Wendy Fracchia on this cruise that will excite your inner-adventure seeker along with giving your heart and mind an experience of a lifetime.

Star Clippers is perfect for mobile, active lifestyle guests of all ages…those with “adventure in their hearts”, regardless of age. Yes, this is a “tall ship” with sails, but it is also a modern ship with propeller motors and all the amenities for smooth sailing as we follow the coastlines of Greece, Turkey, and the Northern Cyclades Islands.  If you want a memorable trip of a lifetime that is unique, experiential, culturally immersive, and includes easy and energetic adventures and activities,  then this is the trip for you.

This cruise is a dream itinerary, round trip from Rome we sail down through the Tyrrhenian Sea and stop at the Aeolian Islands before arriving in Sicily.  We explore this glorious area of Italy, the "toe tip" of the country before sailing up the Amalfi coastline and seeing the picturesque seaside towns, and the Pontine Islands before returning to Rome.  Doing THIS cruise on THIS ship is the only way to truly experience this area. Be sure to add the Pre-Rome tour to start your vacation.

ROMANCE THE WIND ABOARD A TALL SHIP - “The Star Flyer is as fleet as the wind and as graceful as a swan.”

There are few adventures more thrilling than sailing aboard a “tall ship”.  Anyone who has experienced it can tell you ― there’s a moment when you feel the wind catching the sails, and suddenly you’re flying.  This is a true clipper ship reflecting her proud heritage in every inch of her polished brass and gleaming brightwork. Step aboard this unique vessel and discover a new age of sailing, where the traditions of the past are happily married to the comforts and amenities of the present day. Star Flyer is a modern cruise ship in every way, with four masts, 16 sails, and motor propellers too, created for luxury-loving passengers who also love the traditions and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships. Star Flyer is 360 feet long (longer than a football field!) and carries just 170 guests in pampered comfort.

Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like traveling on a private yacht. You’ll never feel confined on Star Flyer. The ship offers spacious accommodations and expansive teak decks with ample space and not one, but two swimming pools. In fact, you’ll find that these ships offer more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships.

The décor of Star Flyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sailing. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please the eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of Star Clippers’ proud nautical heritage.

The Star Flyer features open-seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, a convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and an Edwardian style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with a warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Flyer’s hospitable officers and crew.

Lapari - Aeolian Islands, Italy

An island in the cobalt blue and teal colored Mediterranean and also the name of the city, Lipari is located off the northern coast of Sicily.  First settled in 580 B.C.E. by the Greeks, Lipari survived a tumultuous upbringing.  Conquered by Arabs and plundered by Saracen pirates in the 9th century, life in Lipari calmed down when in 1090 the Normans overthrew the Arabs. France and Spain also had their hands in the mix.  Finally, by the mid-1800s, piracy in the Mediterranean had drawn to a close and a safer life in the Aeolian Islands began to reemerge. Eventually, Italy laid claim to this 11-island archipelago.

A day in Lipari bores no reminder of the terror of its early days.  Now, the sleepy island Lipari has become a major tourist destination during the summer months with nearly double the 11,000+ population as tourists.

Sorrento, Italy

Thanks to its spectacular natural beauties, mild Italy Sorrento weather, and the fact it is fairly easy to reach from the cruise terminal in Naples, Sorrento often ends up at the top of the list of things to do on that day. This is a relatively small, charming town perched upon a cliff and overlooking the sea, set in the midst of vineyards, and lemon, orange, and olive groves. Being so close to Pompeii Italy and Herculaneum, another ancient city, in the 18th and 19th Ct, Sorrento became a good base for European aristocracy on their Grand Tour. Thanks to that, it was visited by many famous people: Lord Byron, Keats, Goethe, Lamartine, Stendhal, Wagner, Mendelssohn, Giacomo Casanova, Charles Dickens, Friedrich Nietzche, Henrik Ibsen, and Walter Scott…
