Pyramids, Temples, and Tombs. These are but some of the monuments of Ancient Egypt which we will visit on a trip to Egypt in 2024 with Dr. C. Wilfred Griggs. Our journey will include a Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan, with stops along the river to visit ancient Temples dedicated to various ancient Egyptian Deities. We will go through each Temple as if we were ancient priests enacting the rituals which would grant Eternal Life and transform humans into Gods and Goddesses. We will visit some of the most famous Pyramids, including some not usually included in Egyptian tours (we will even see the Pyramid which Dr. Griggs excavated when he was the Director of an excavation project in Egypt for 30 years). Our group will enter some ancient Tombs, which were called 'houses for eternity' by the ancients, taking in the beautiful art depicting the life Egyptians expected to experience in eternity. All accommodations are 5-Star, and the food is the best Mediterranean diet one can imagine (pita bread with hummus, tahina, and baba-ganoush and lentil soup are great starters). There are other treasures to be seen, sites to visit, and country villages and farms to drive through and by as we visit the Land of the Pharaohs. We will pass by the major site Griggs excavated during his many years working in the Fayum Oasis area. We will see the Canal anciently named for Joseph of the Old Testament, Roman city sites, Islamic Mosques with tall Minarets, and we will watch Egypt pass by as we drink lemonade on a canopied deck of our cruise ship. Cairo - Giza Pyramids and Sphinx and Sakkarra
Today after breakfast we will explore the great Giza Plateau: Great Pyramids and Sphinx, Valley Temple. Our visit includes going inside the great pyramid, Cheops. After lunch we’ll continue our day at the Sakkara complex and Djoser Pyramid, the first pyramid ever built. We will end our day back at our beautiful hotel to rest from our first full day.

Alexandria tour from Cairo
Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo, to enjoy an amazing Day Trip to Alexandria. First, visit Pompey's Pillar. It was constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally from the temple of the Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivalling the Soma and the Caesarean. Then drive to visit the Catacombs which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock. Lunch at local restaurant in Alexandria, then proceed to see the Qaitbay Citadel which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria then, to Bibliotheca Alexandria (Panoramic View from outside). Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.

Day 5: Monday, June 10, 2024
Cairo - Flight to Luxor - Nile Cruise (East Bank)
At 4:00 am Check-out from hotel, then transfer to the Cairo Airport for a flight to Luxor where you will be met and assisted upon arrival, then taken by an air-conditioned vehicle to enjoy a visit to the impressive Karnak Temples. Then board your Egypt Nile cruise to check in. Lunch on board. Dinner and overnight on-board Nile cruise.

Day 6: Tuesday, June 11, 2024
Nile Cruise - West Bank / Edfu
After breakfast on your Nile cruise, take an excursion to the royal cemetery for 62 Pharaohs, Valley of the Kings, then to mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was built by the architects of the New Kingdom Pharaoh Hatshepsut in the 15th century BC. Head to the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch, you will sail to Edfu enjoying a leisurely dinner on board. Overnight on board Nile Cruise.

Nile Cruise - Edfu - Kim Ombo
After breakfast on Nile Cruise, visit the well-preserved Ptolemaic Temple dedicated to Horus at Edfu. Sail to Kom Ombo to see the unique Temple of Sobek, dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god, and Horus the falcon-headed god. Have your lunch on board. Continue sailing to Aswan. Dinner and overnight on board your Nile Cruise.

Abu Simbel Tour with flight from Aswan - Cairo
Breakfast box. Our Memphis Tours Representative will pick you up from your cruise by a PRIVATE air-conditioned vehicle to Aswan Airport for flight to Abu Simbel. Meet and assist at Abu Simbel airport and transfer to enjoy Abu Simbel which its main attraction is the great sun temple of RamsesII and the temple of queen Nefertari. Both temples were discovered in 1813 it was almost completely covered with sand. Then both temples were moved in 1960 by the help of the Egyptian government and UNESCO to avoid the rising water of the Nile. Ramses II built the temple mostly to honor himself as inside there is a mural depicting his famous victory at Kadesh battle where his army defeated his enemies. On the north of Ramses temple, the Nefertari Temple which was built by Ramses II to his favorite wife Queen Nefertari among other 200 wives and concubines. then transfer to Abu Simbel Airport for departure back to Aswan. Meet at Aswan Airport and transfer to your Nile cruise for lunch. Dinner and overnight on board Nile Cruise. (B,L,D)

Aswan Tour including Nubian village - Cairo
Disembark from your Nile cruise after breakfast, enjoy a day’s sightseeing in Aswan. Start with the High Dam, then proceed to the beautiful Temple of Philae, which is devoted to the two goddesses Isis and Hathor, and unfinished Obelisk. After that visit to the Nubian Village is included. Later transfer to Aswan Airport for flight back to Cairo. Meet at assist at Cairo Airport and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Cairo.
