    Upon arrival in Athens in the late afternoon, we transfer to our hotel and enjoy a welcome group dinner this evening. Overnight in Athens.

    Sunday June 06, 2027: Corinth - Athens

    This morning, we depart early for our visit to Corinth, one of the most important cities in biblical history and a place where the Apostle Paul lived and taught. Explore the archaeological site featuring the Temple of Apollo, the Agora, and other fascinating ruins that bring the New Testament to life. Our visit also includes the Corinth Archaeological Museum, home to an impressive collection of artifacts, mosaics, statues, and historical treasures discovered throughout the region.

    Following our included lunch, we return to Athens to visit the Acropolis, including the Parthenon and Mars Hill. Here we will reflect on Paul’s sermon regarding the “Unknown God” while taking in the remarkable ruins and panoramic views from this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Monday June 7, 2027: Athens, Greece - Embarkation

    Today we enjoy a panoramic tour of Athens with our private guide, featuring highlights such as Syntagma Square and the historic Olympic Stadium.

    Next, we transfer to the port to board the Explorer of the Seas, part of the Royal Caribbean International fleet. After check-in and time to settle into your stateroom, you may explore the ship, relax on deck, and prepare for the unforgettable voyage ahead.

    Wednesday June 9, 2027: Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey

    Step back in time as you explore the remarkable ancient city of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in the world. Just a short drive from the port, Ephesus offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of the New Testament. Visit the revered House of the Virgin Mary, believed by many to be her final earthly home, and the historic Basilica of St. John, built over the traditional burial site of the Apostle John. Walk among impressive ruins, grand avenues, and ancient architecture, and see the lone remaining column of the Temple of Artemis, once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This unforgettable destination brings scripture, history, and archaeology together in a truly inspiring setting.

    Today we journey from the port of Kusadasi to one of the most significant biblical and archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. Our first stop is the House of the Virgin Mary, a revered site believed by many to be where Mary, the mother of Jesus, spent her final years following the Crucifixion.

    We then continue to the ancient city of Ephesus, where the Apostle Paul preached, taught, and helped establish one of the early Christian communities. Widely regarded as one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world, Ephesus offers an extraordinary opportunity to walk along its marble streets and explore impressive ruins that bring the New Testament era to life.

    Following an included lunch, we visit the Basilica of St. John and then return to the Kusadasi port, where you will have free time to browse local shops before boarding our ship.

    Saturday June 12, 2027: Olympia (Katakolon), Greece

    A charming small fishing village on the Ionian Sea, Katakolon offers a glimpse into traditional Greek coastal life. Spend a leisurely afternoon browsing local shops and artisan crafts, sampling freshly caught seafood, and enjoying the relaxed harbor atmosphere with its beautiful seaside views.

    For those interested in history, a short drive inland brings you to Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Walk among the sacred ruins where athletes once competed in honor of Zeus and experience the timeless legacy of one of history’s most celebrated traditions.

    Today our ship arrives in Katakolon, the charming seaside gateway to ancient Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games. Upon disembarkation, we travel through the scenic countryside of the Peloponnese to the archaeological site of Olympia, one of the most important sanctuaries of the ancient world.

    During our guided visit, we explore the ruins of the original Olympic Stadium, where athletes competed nearly 3,000 years ago. We will also see the Temple of Zeus, once home to the massive gold and ivory statue of Zeus considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, along with the Temple of Hera and other important monuments and training areas used by ancient athletes.

    Our visit also includes the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, featuring remarkable sculptures, artifacts, and treasures uncovered from the site that help bring ancient Greek history and mythology to life.

    Following free time for lunch and shopping, we return to Katakolon where there may be time to stroll the waterfront shops and cafés before reboarding the ship.

    Monday June 14. 2027: Rome, Italy

    Although the cruise has ended, our adventure continues in the Eternal City! This morning we explore old town Rome with visits to iconic sites including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. In the afternoon, discover the treasures of the Vatican on a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica.

    The evening is at leisure to enjoy Rome at your own pace, whether dining, strolling, or simply soaking in the city’s timeless charm.

    Tuesday June 15, 2027: Rome Temple - Rome, Italy

    Today we travel outside the historic center of Rome to visit the Rome Temple Visitor’s Center and Temple. For those who wish to participate, time will be allotted for proxy temple work (subject to individual appointment scheduling and availability).

    This afternoon, we continue your exploration of the Eternal City with a guided tour of Imperial Rome, including the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, where ancient history comes vividly to life.

    This evening, we gather for a special farewell dinner to celebrate our journey together.

    Wednesday June 16, 2027: Rome Airport - Flight Home

    This morning we transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) for our flights home, carrying with us memories from an unforgettable journey through history, culture, and faith.

About Craig D. Ogletree:

Mark D. Ogletree was raised in Texas and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age 18. He served an LDS mission from 1982-1984 in Seattle, Washington. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987 from Brigham Young University; Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from Northern Arizona University, 1990; Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling in 1994 from Northern Arizona University; and a Ph.D. in Family and Human Development from Utah State University in May 2000.  

Mark worked for 20 years in the seminary and institute program. He taught both seminary and institute in Mesa, Arizona, Logan, Utah, and later became the institute director in Dallas, Texas.

In 2010, Mark accepted a position at Brigham Young University as an Associate Professor in the Department of Church History and Doctrine. At BYU, he teaches courses on the Eternal Family and Living Prophets. Mark is now a full professor in the Department of Church History and Doctrine.

Additionally, Mark has worked in private practice for over 35 years as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Mark has published books and articles on marriage and family relationships. Some of his most recent books include:

Mark is presently the stake president of the Edgemont North Stake in Provo, Utah. He is married to the former Janie Cook, and they have eight children, and 27 grandchildren.
