Home Cities - Houston, TX (Depart 4:00pm)

If traveling to Houston today, arrival into the Houston airport must be before 12 Noon to have the necessary time to travel to the Post of Galveston and check into the cruise. **Our recommendation is to arrive the night before to ensure you don’t miss the boat!

It really doesn’t get any more Texan than Galveston. It's a place that's brimming with proud historical significance and has many stories to tell about the Texan and Mexican revolutions. Galveston was originally founded by the newly formed Mexican congress. Then it was used as the primary naval base by Texan revolutionaries. Later, it eventually went on to become the capital of the Republic of Texas. Visitors can explore up to six historical districts, boasting some of the best preserved and historically relevant 19th century architecture in the U.S. Museums of all kinds are also available to provide ample context.

Today is a fun day to explore the ship and find the pools, kids clubs, games rooms, rock climbing wall, restaurants, and on and on!

GROUP SEMINAR: This afternoon Dr. Anthony Sweat is presenting a Book of Mormon seminar for those who’d like to join. It is easy to associate the ancient culture of the Mayans with those we learn from the Book of Mormon. It is a wonderful way to personalize the many stories we gain strength from as we study the scriptures.

Costa Maya, Mexico (12noon-7:00pm)

Today, welcome the Sabbath morning in a private devotional before the first stop in Mexico.

Past meets present in Costa Maya today as you find ancient Maya ruins and mysterious jungles begging to be explored, as well as private beach clubs and trendy restaurants — all in one place. It is 250 square miles of paradise packed with entertainment and history, all just 30 miles south of Cancun. Just off the coast is the Great Mayan Reef, second largest in the world, and a ‘must snorkel’ spot!

PRIVATE GROUP SHORE EXCURSION #1: Snorkeling and beach excursion in Costa Maya. While gliding atop the waters, you enjoy spectacular marine life and the vibrant coral reef before returning to shore for a relaxing stroll along the beach. The snorkel tour is conducted inside the reef lagoon; the portion of the sea between the reef crest and the beach. Thanks to the government making a point to protect the reef and the small amount of tourism compared to other destinations like Cancun, snorkeling in Costa Maya is ideal.

If exploring is not your inclination, unwind with a beachside massage at Playa Mia and enjoy the surrounding culture while soaking up sunshine. You find a world of adventure waiting in Cozumel.

PRIVATE GROUP SHORE EXCURSION #2:  The Amazing Cozumel Scavenger Hunt Race - a live-action mystery adventure like nothing else in the Caribbean. This fabulous team experience is great for any size or age group of people. The extravaganza starts late in the morning upon meeting and you get the first clue. Once you figure out the answer to your clue, you are sent on your way to the next destination and clue. Winners are based on which group solves the clues and gets to the finish line first. Don't forget, this is a mystery scavenger hunt so you need your wits about you! Time is of the essence; energy and a sense of adventure will serve you well. During the hunt, stop for a snorkeling adventure and see a side of Cozumel most tourists never visit.

Yucatan, Mexico - New Years Eve Party

With its laid-back beach-town vibe and one of the world’s longest piers, Progreso is the gateway to adventure on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Malecón Beach is a hub for sun seekers looking to lounge on long stretches of sand. Explore shipwrecks at Alacranes Reef and swim with sea turtles in the clear waters off Perez Island. Or travel inland to stroll around Merida’s bustling old world squares. Yucatan cruises offer access to a treasure trove of Mayan archaeological sites digging deep into Mexico’s fascinating ancient past.

Tonight you celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another with your family back onboard the ship!  Get dressed up and join a ship-wide party to count down the New Year with confetti and party favors at hosted events in every venue – big and small. From parties in your favorite clubs to the big Balloon Drop in the Promenade, Esplanade, and Centrum, this is one New Year’s spectacular you will remember for years to come.

PRIVATE GROUP SHORE EXCURSION #3: Today visit the famous Mayan ruins in Chichen Itza that takes you to the ancient city for a fun history lesson full of great photo ops. Chichen Itza, one of Mexico's most visited sites, was once one of the most important cities in Mayan civilization and among the most powerful. As other city centers declined, Chichen Itza ascended and enjoyed unquestionable regional reign until the city saw its own decline starting around 900 A.D. During its prominence, Chichen Itza served as a prominent regional capital that centralized and dominated many political, ideological, and economical aspects of the area.
