Join Gerrit Dirkmaat, a BYU professor and church history scholar who worked on the Joseph Smith Papers project (2010-2014), on this unforgettable tour to the Palmyra and Kirtland Church History sites. The highlight of the trip will be attending the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Other highlights include the New Priesthood Restoration site, the Peter Whitmer Farm, Sacred Grove, Palmyra Temple, Niagara Falls, Kirtland Temple, Morley Farm, Whitney Store and the John Johnson Farm to name a few.

Home Cities – Rochester, NY Aiport to Palmyra

Depart this morning for Palmyra, NY. We will get acquainted with our group at dinner as we look forward to the trip ahead. Accommodations: Palmyra Inn. (D)

Day 2: Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

Palmyra - Fayette - Hill Cumorah Pageant

Early this morning we will visit the Sacred Grove and reflect on the special events that took place here. Next we’ll see the restored Joseph Smith Sr. home and farm including the restored log cabin where Moroni first appeared to Joseph Smith. Next, we will stop at the E.B. Grandin Building where the Book of Mormon was printed. After lunch we’ll see the grave site of Alvin Smith, Joseph’s eldest brother then we will travel to Fayette, NY to visit the Peter Whitmer Farm where the Church was organized on April 6, 1830. Tonight we’ll see the Hill Cumorah and witness the highlight of our tour, “The Hill Cumorah Pageant”. Accommodations: Palmyra Inn. (B,L)

Day 3: Wednesday, July 18th, 2018

Harmony, PA- Palmyra

Today we will visit the new Priesthood Restoration Site in Susquehanna County, PA. We’ll see the new visitor s center and meetinghouse, the reconstructed homes of Joseph and Emma Smith and Isaac and Elizabeth Hale, the woods where John the Baptist restored the priesthood, the baptismal site at the Susquehanna River, and the new statuary. Day 4: Thursday, July 19th, 2018

Mendon, NY - Niagara Falls -Kirtland

This morning we’ll drive to Mendon, NY to see the Tomlinson Inn where Samuel Smith gave a copy of the Book of Mormon to Phineas Young, Brigham Young’s older brother. Then we continue our journey to Niagara Falls, the oldest state park in the USA. We’ll board the Maid of the Mist boat which passes directly in front of the falls and enters Horseshoe Basin. This is a fun activity you don’t want to miss! After free time for lunch and shopping we travel to Kirtland, OH. Accommodations: Holiday Inn. (B,D)

Day 5: Friday, July 20th, 2018


Today we’ll visit the Kirtland Temple. Relative to the meager resources of the Saints at the time, the Kirtland Temple is probably the most costly temple ever constructed by the church. Next we’ll see the Temple Quarry and have a picnic lunch. We will spend the afternoon visiting the Historic Kirtland village including; the LDS Visitor’ s Center, the Whitney Home and Store, the Johnson Inn, the Ashery, the Sawmill, and the Morley Farm. Day 6: Saturday, July 21st, 2018

Kirtland - Hiram - Cleveland Airport

We depart this morning for Hiram, OH to visit the John Johnson Farm. It was at the Johnson farm that Joseph Smith received the vision of the three degrees of glory. We conclude our tour with a late afternoon flight home. (B)
